Buckhead Medicine offers ‘Telemedicine’, or remote healthcare, which is also known as “e-health” or better known as “tele-health”. These types of virtual visits give our team of doctors the opportunity to see patients via telecommunications in order to evaluate, diagnose, and in most cases even treat patients in a secure and HIPPA compliant manner. As with our in-patient visits, our staff is fully trained at giving exceptional care, even from afar! We pride ourselves with our prompt responses and ease of access with our telecommunications makes getting to your “virtual appointment” a breeze.
Here’s how it works:
- Fill out patient paperwork via the secure portal – Yes, a virtual appointment still requires you to fill out paperwork prior to your appointment. You can do it on your own time at the comfort of your own home!
- Sign using your electronic signature – If you don’t have a touchscreen, you can use your computer mouse to sign the virtual document and show your consent to our telemedicine services.
- Both parties require devices that have audio and video capabilities – Having a secure video and audio connection is required by law, and it helps to solidify that our providers are treating the right patient.
- Follow the instructions laid out by your provider – Not tech savvy? Simply follow the mapped-out instructions before, during, and after your visit. Our services are straightforward and you can watch our videos to help you sign in.
Virtual Healthcare in Atlanta, Georgia
Buckhead Medicine is equipped to treat all urgent, non-life-threatening medical needs, and while some may be handled through a virtual visit, several treatments require an in-person visit.
Why choose Buckhead Medicines Telemedicine Services?
QHow is a telehealth visit different from a regular in-clinic visit?
The use of technology is what differentiates telemedicine or telehealth from other forms of healthcare. A telehealth visit at Buckhead Medicine Atlanta, is done by chatting face-to-face with a healthcare provider through video technology (either through your tablet, computer or smartphone). Patients can communicate with a healthcare provider through patient portals, via virtual check-ins (5-10 minute phone conversations), by transmitting data from an in-home blood pressure machine or blood glucose monitor, by forwarding medical records and videos by email, etc.
QWhy should I use telemedicine?
Today, during the times of COVID-19, it may not always be possible for patients to get immediate healthcare, especially for problems that don’t require urgent care. It may also not be possible for home-bound patients to visit the hospital frequently. Telemedicine gives patients the opportunity to get timely healthcare in a convenient location. There is less waiting, no travel time, and no need for time away from work or other priorities. Receiving a medical diagnosis or treatment from the comfort of home puts patients at ease. Telemedicine is just another option for receiving care from a provider. For example through video ‘chat’ for evaluation of a sick patient, or by taking a picture of a skin issue and sending it to a skin specialist for assessment.
QDo I have to meet with my doctor in-person before a visit can be conducted via video?
This is required on a case-to-case basis. It is not necessary for the doctor/patient relationship to be established in-person, unless required by the doctor, depending on the illness.
QIs telemedicine technology difficult to use?
No. In general, telemedicine is designed to be as easy to use as other familiar applications on your phone or laptop. Patients and providers with a basic familiarity with online apps should be able to quickly figure out how to use a telehealth application. At Buckhead Medicine, Georgia, we guide you on how to connect with simple, easy-to-follow instructions and a video to help you sign in.
QIs the quality of care the same as an in-person visit?
The quality of telemedicine as a method of healthcare delivery has been found to be a safe, cost-effective and convenient way to provide healthcare services. You enjoy nearly the same advantages of having a secure, one-on-one interaction with your doctor, while cutting out waiting time and travel time. Receiving care in the comfort of your home results in happier, more satisfied patients.
QWhat types of conditions/problems can telehealth be suitable for?
Telemedicine—and video visits, in particular—can be used to diagnose and treat a wide range of conditions. Some of these include colds, flu, allergies, diabetes management, ear aches, skin issues, conjunctivitis (pink eye), sinus infections, urinary tract infections, migraines, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, respiratory infections, sports injuries (like a sprained ankle), insect bites, cuts and scrapes, back pain, heartburn, etc.
Sometimes, your doctor may order additional tests (such as an X-ray) for which you will need to visit your primary health center. Other times, they may make a diagnosis on the spot and prescribe medications. At the very least, it is helpful for patients to avail of telemedicine services in Atlanta, Georgia, and later be routed to other medical services at Buckhead Medicine, if needed. For urgent conditions, always call 911.
QCan you get a prescription after a telemedicine visit?
Yes. Since prescriptions are transmitted electronically from provider to pharmacy, a doctor or other healthcare provider can definitely send a prescription to your pharmacy after a telemedicine appointment. For instances where a physical check-up may be required before prescribing medications, a doctor may call you in for an examination in order to give you a prescription.
QWhat if I need a procedure done after my telemedicine appointment?
Telemedicine is helpful in determining the urgency of a patient’s condition. If we determine, through a virtual visit, that your condition requires any sort of procedure, we will work with you to fix an appointment in-clinic for the same. Naturally, medical procedures require a one-on-one interaction with a healthcare provider, however a telehealth appointment at Buckhead Medicine, Atlanta, can get you started down the right path to receiving the intervention you need in a timely manner.

Your location is perfect for me. Stopping by to get a quick flu shot was easy and pleasant. Thank you for a quick in and out.
Dr. Espinosa always takes a lot of time educating and answering questions. This allows patients to feel very comfortable with whatever brings them to his office. Megan and Margaret are both extremely professional and kind.
Dr. Espinosa did an IPL laser treatment on my face and I am amazed at the results after just one treatment! I am born and raised in Florida and spent more time outside than inside and at 28 yrs old didn’t even realize how much I would benefit from a treatment. Also, I got the treatment done 3 weeks prior to my wedding and it was perfect timing! In 7 days the spots and freckles just feel off and now my skin tone looks so great I am even wearing less make up. If you live in Atlanta and are looking for aesthetics services or a more youthful appearance Dr. Espinosa is where it’s at.
Dr E is simply the best! I don’t trust any other professional when it comes to my face. he is informative and honest and does an amazing job when it comes to Botox and facial treatments!
Dr Espinosa, Kelly and the entire staff are truly phenomenal! They are extremely professional, caring and go above and beyond for us every time we call office for a question and also for an in person appointment. We highly recommend Dr Espinosa as he is the absolute best!!
