Peri-menopausal Hormone Monitoring Evaluation & Treatment

Dr. Espinosa recognises that hormone therapy plays an important role in the management of peri-menopausal symptoms including hot flashes, vaginal atrophy and, in some cases, the mood liability that many women experience during the menopausal transition. It is however important to discuss treatment options with your primary care physician or Ob/Gyn including discussions regarding risk factors for stroke and blood clots while on these medications. Dr. Espinosa will work closely with you and your Ob/Gyn to ensure the best treatment options are followed.

Breast & Cervical Cancer Screening

Dr. Espinosa will coordinate screening to ensure that women age 40 to 75 undergo appropriate breast cancer screening. While Dr. Espinosa does not perform pap smears or pelvic exams in his office, he will ensure that you are appropriately followed by Ob/Gyn and on the appropriate schedule for cervical cancer screening.

Osteoporosis Screening & Treatment

Bone density scans to evaluate for osteoporosis as well as vitamin d and calcium supplementation are essential for bone health and prevention of fractures later in life. Dr. Espinosa will ensure that appropriate recommendations are provided to you to screen and treat for osteoporosis.

Cardiovascular Risk Screening

Cardiovascular disease remains the leading cause of death in adults in the US. People may have ongoing heart disease even without symptoms. In some people the first manifestation of heart disease is a heart attack or even sudden cardiac death. Because of these facts, it is important to routinely screen for heart disease particularly in those patients that have risk factors that can be modified. At Buckhead Medicine we emphasize yearly cardiovascular disease screening and risk stratification. Screening includes but is not limited to blood pressure measurement, EKG testing, cholesterol screening, cardiac CRP testing and in certain cases CT calcium score measurements, 2D echo-cardiogram and exercise or nuclear stress tests.
